UNIVERSITY OF SANTA CATARINA
The university campus is
10 km distant from the city center, located at the Trindade district.
It possesses an area of one
million square meters. Several bus lines link it to the rest of the city.
The campus has a complete
infrastructure and is ranked among the most moderns in the country: libraries,
leisure areas, art galleries, a theater, a planetarium, animal nursery,
a publishing house, printing presses, sports complex, and all basic facilities
as banks, post-office, hospital and a university restaurant.
In order to establish conventions,
consultations and specialization programs, among other activities, three
foundations were created: Fundação do Ensino da
Engenharia
de Santa Catarina (FEESC); Fundação de Amparo à
Pesquisa
e Extensão (FAPEU); Fundação de Ensino e
Pesquisa Sócio-Econômica (FEPESE); and Fundação Centro
Regional de Tecnologia e Informática (CERTI).
THE
GRADUATE PROGRAM IN PRODUCTION ENGINEERING
(PPGEP)
The Production Engineering
course is characterized as an Engineering of Methods with no specific link
to any particular kind of system.
It deals with planning, project development, establishment and control
of productive systems aiming at integrating men, machinery
and equipment within the social, economic and ecological environment. The
analytic methods of the Production Engineering
Course are applicable to all kinds of activities:
- industrial,
- commercial,
- governmental,
even though its applications
may be particularly necessary at the industrial production of goods and
at the offering of complex services.
